William, son
and heir of Henry de Bokwell requests restitution of a yearly rent of 53s.
4d. from land and rent in Boughton Aluph which by fine levied in the
quinzaine of St Martin in the twenty-third year of Edward III [1349]
between his grandfather Henry de Bekwell and Agnes, his wife, plaintiffs,
and Notte, Sudbury and Shrimp, deforciants, was granted to Henry, Agnes and
their heirs, who were seised of the same. Henry granted the rent to
Bealknapp for life, and Henry and Agnes died leaving one son, Henry, the
petitioner's father who succeeded to the premises and died seised of the
same, the said rent being extinguished, and the premises descended to the
petitioner, but by forfeiture of Bealknap the rent was seised into the
King's hand and demised to farm, with other manors and tenements in Kent
and Sussex, to Katherine, Lady Engaine.
