Journal, correspondence, biographies, genealogy, newspaper clippings, photographs, poetry, and patriarchal blessings containing information regarding Belnap family, which settled in and around Hooper and Ogden, Utah. Included is journal of Martin and Elizabeth Cole regarding their immigration to America from England in 1849 and their crossing the plains to Salt Lake City; form letter signed by Orson Pratt showing passenger list and requirements for passage to America (1849). Also included are histories of Gilbert Belnap; Roswell Cole Belnap; Gilbert Rosel Belnap, who was sheriff of Ogden, Utah for many years; and Sarah Jane Cole Belnap.

fd. 1, Martin Cole journal, 1849

Account of Martin and Elizabeth Cole’s immigrated from Liverpool, England, (2 September 1849) across plains to Salt Lake City. Includes account of their baby daughter, Lucy, dying hours before landing and her burial in St. Louis, Missouri. Martin died on 11 July 1852 in Nebraska and journal was finished by Elizabeth. Journal includes hair samples in a cloth pocket.
